Riccardo Tisci presented Givenchy’s Fall 2016 menswear and his Spring ’16 haute couture at Paris men’s Fashion Week today. To the sounds of techno music, guests were treated to a streamlined collection filled with Givenchy signatures—Americana, sequins, and streetwear influences—and a few new twists, too. Find 10 talking points of the event here while you wait for Alexander Fury’s review.
1. The show was staged in an entirely fuchsia room with fluorescent lights around the ceiling, giving the environment a Lynchian, womb-like feel.
2. Despite the overwhelmingly pink scene, there was little pink in the actual collection, save for the rose-gold grommets and studs that adorned many suits and jackets.
3. Didn’t we say cowboy boots were making a comeback? Helping the case are the black and crushed-velvet styles Tisci sent out on the catwalk.
4. The logo star print Tisci introduced for Spring 2016 was reintroduced this season in shades of gray with superimposed graphics.
5. Tisci’s love of Americana came out in the form of American flag bandanas tied loosely around models’ necks.
6. If you needed further proof that bomber jackets are going to be the outerwear item to beat this Fall, Tisci’s graphic MA-1s with serpent designs should convince you.
7. A parade of women’s haute couture looks were included in the show, worn by Lineisy Montero, Sarah Brannon, Lexi Boling, Kris Gottschalk, and more of Tisci’s favorite muses.
8. The big takeaway from the women’s haute couture collection was shine, which came courtesy of completely sequined and beaded gowns in gold, chartreuse, and jet black.
9. Female models’ eyes were lined with shocking-pink eyeliner, a small nod to the electric atmosphere of the show space.
10. The music for the show was provided by DJ Dixon.
