A Vogue editor who doesn’t love denim? No such thing. Patched, distressed, skinny, oversized, overalls, cutoffs, bell-bottoms, or raw . . . Collectively, we can’t get enough of the versatile dungaree in all its forms. As universally appealing is the work of Alexander Wang. Put the two together via the designer’s Resort 2016 denim line and let the endlessly divergent approaches to styling commence.
Expanding upon his first denim collection, which featured an edited range including everything from skinnies to a relaxed boyfriend cut, this time around the designer has added 14 new styles that, as Vogue.com Denim Editor Kelly Connor notes, are “inherently more Wang.” From the billowing mall rat raver jean to the cheeky high-waisted cutoffs to the oversize “Is it vintage?” denim jacket, the diverse offerings manage to touch on myriad moods while possessing Wang’s signature downtown edge. “It’s more street and a little more about how Wang himself dresses,” Connor says.
