In 2016, Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting will mark its 20th anniversary. How better to celebrate than with a sequel that reunites the original cast, screenwriter, and director? The recently confirmed film will most likely bring back the central characters and the same level of malaise, profanities, and attractive cutaways of Ewan McGregor. A revival of one of 1996’s biggest films shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. At this point, all things ’90s are trending across multiple genres. As our own Sarah Mower pointed out, the decade is ripe for a return due in part to simple math: Many of today’s leading creatives were in their 20s in the ’90s. And it seems many of those now-40-something fashion creatives saw Trainspotting—at least, that’s what these runway photos suggest. From the tiny tank sported by McGregor’s Renton to the prim school uniform worn by Kelly Macdonald’s Diane, the style notes of the seminal film are popping up everywhere we look.
