System Magazine Celebrates Its Sixth Issue With Cocktails at The Carlyle

The quote splashed across the cover of System magazine’s sixth issue reads, “I wanted something calm,” with a photograph of the author of the quote, Raf Simons, amid Dior’s mountain of delphiniums at their most recent runway show. To celebrate the newest issue of the publication, editors Alexia Niedzielski and Elizabeth von Guttman hosted a party at Bemelmans Bar—but calm it was not.

From one New York landmark to another, guests decamped from the Guggenheim International Gala to The Carlyle’s jewel box ground-floor bar. APigeon made herself at home performing on top of the bar, knees splayed, microphone dangling from her tattooed forearm. Cindy Sherman, up to her neck in Dior silver sequins, looked on with curiosity, cradling a flute of champagne. There was a happy sartorial juxtaposition between those dressed in mostly Dior black-tie and non-gala-goers who showed up in faded Levi’s. And then, of course, there was A$AP Rocky, who was the single Venn diagram overlap between the two, swapping out his black blazer for a Levi’s denim jacket.
