Ramen, a Fendi Buggie, Shu Uemura shampoo, Momofuku treats—these aren’t the baroque prints of your grandmother’s foulard. Meet CJW scarves, the brainchild of artist Christina J. Wang, whose offbeat approach to accessories has won her a fast following of cool girls since she launched her brand just a year ago. That fan base is sure to grow with the label’s inclusion in Nordstrom’s new Pop-In series, debuting tomorrow in stores and online. Five styles from the range will be on offer, among them Blonde Asian, which depicts the goods used in Wang’s own journey to platinum locks, and Mvshoes, highlighting the most valuable players of her footwear arsenal, from Charlotte Olympia’s feline flats to Phoebe Philo’s riff on the classic skate shoe.

So how did the designer go from Brown University arts undergrad to creator of some of the coolest scarves around? “I was at an artist’s residency in Vermont,” she tells Vogue.com, “and I did this drawing of all these foods [from New York] I wished I was eating that I really missed—colored pencil drawings that are synonymous with what you see on my scarves now.” Unsurprisingly, CJW’s ramen scarf, bearing bowls of noodle soup (complete with prices) from Ippudo, Ivan Ramen, and beyond, has been a quick hit; more surprising, as Wang tells it, is the success of the fruit and vegetable design: “Some people buy based on the objects that are on there, some people buy based on the color. It’s always interesting for me how people select their scarves.” Do a little soul-searching and find your new fall favorite in the slideshow below.
