If the line of obsessed shoppers who camp outside its store every Thursday morning is any indication, it’s safe to say that whatever Supreme does turns to gold. The latest products the streetwear brand is putting its Midas touch on are Dr. Martens’s classic four-eye shoes and six-eye boots, available in stores today. In three colors—maroon, black, and sky blue—the low and high styles have already found a cultlike fan base online, among both fans of Supreme and devoted diehards of Dr. Martens.

While the nineties are enjoying a high-fashion renaissance—you need just take a look around Vogue.com to see the proof—Supreme notes that the decision to partner with the iconic shoe company for the first time had little to do with trends. “I hate the term trend forecasting,” admits brand director Angelo Baque. “For us, it’s just about what feels right at the time. . . . At the end of the day, punk is very skate, skate is very punk, and Dr. Martens is part of that culture.”

Trends aside, that “right shoe for right now” feeling comes down to the diversity in the current men’s market. “The four-eye [shoe] feels good, especially for now, when the lines are blurred when it comes to menswear,” notes Baque. “It isn’t like, ‘You have to wear this in order to wear that’—it’s kind of like anything goes at this point. It’s about how you put your own personal take on it.”
