The technology boom of the past 15 years has left us dizzyingly connected and, as many sage sorts have noted, more solitary than ever before. It’s with that particular peril of modern life in mind that designer Patrick Robinson recently launched his newest venture, Paskho.
The brand’s name comes from the ancient Greek “passion”—it connotes not the kind of ardor you’d feel for, say, your Puzzle bag, but an innate and all-consuming love. Robinson, in addition to being an avid traveler, is best known for a boldface and wide-ranging CV that includes Giorgio Armani, Paco Rabanne, Gap, and Perry Ellis. But after managing expansive design teams, he was keen to get back to the autonomy and ease of doing things solo. And so Paskho was born, a range of pieces that exists somewhere in the breezy hinterlands between ready-to-wear and activewear, the general idea being to streamline matters of the wardrobe and emphasize adventuring, getting outside, and connecting with flora, fauna, one’s self, et al.
To wit: an impressive array of sportif trousers that are a far cry from your pricey yoga pants. Instead, Robinson traveled, sourcing luxe-looking performance fabrics from around the globe and devoting his attention to impeccable details: organic, even sculptural seams; lush hand feel. It’s a cliché at this point, the pants that can allegedly take you from yoga to brunch and beyond, but Paskho’s bevy of styles indeed lives up to that. Take a pinstriped, slouchy pair in featherweight wool, wide-legged silhouettes, or slim cropped trousers. They’re moisture-wicking, water-repellent, and boast four-way stretch so that they move with the body, whether you’re indulging in vinyasa flow or just doing some vigorous window-shopping.
