The Burberry Prorsum muse this season isn’t your typical English rose. She favors a sheer dress, carryall backpack, and packs a punch with a crimson lip. Get the CliffNotes on Christopher Bailey’s complex characters—and the rest of the scene at the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2016 show—below.
1. There were so many stars in the Burberry Prorsum front row, you needed a guide. Among the boldface names were Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, St. Vincent, Sienna Miller, Naomie Harris, and Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis.
2. Current Burberry Prorsum campaign stars Clara Paget, Holliday Grainger, and Harry Treadaway were also seated front row, while their fellow campaign model Ella Richards walked in the show.
3. In the center of the runway a 32-piece orchestra was set up to accompany Alison Moyet, who performed for the duration of the show.
4. New model Victoria Kosenkova both opened and closed the show as a Burberry exclusive.
5. The first look out was a lacy black minidress under a trench—an ensemble that would set the tone for the louche numbers to follow.
6. Sheer was a big story on the catwalk, with many tops, dresses, and gowns featuring see-through elements.
7. The collection showed plenty of flat sandals, in black with gold chain details, though a high-heeled lattice boot might be more the speed of the house’s front row clientele.
8. Christopher Bailey didn’t forget about the guys. Several men’s looks walked the runway featuring lacy tops, loose pants, and tasseled loafers.
9. Most models wore natural hair and makeup, though a select few, like Vanessa Moody, sported a blood-stained lip.
10. It has done ponchos and plaid scarves, but the It item Burberry Prorsum is monogramming this season is a backpack. Worn by all the models during the finale, the black and gold style will make jetting through Europe during Fashion Week a little chicer. A selection of outerwear and bags from the show are also available to buy now and have monogrammed beginning October 5.
