Do you know @lallo25? We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t. The Instagram presence of Gucci’s creative director doesn’t bear his name or that of the house he’s turned around since taking over a year ago. But one look at those luscious locks or the embroidered serpents Alessandro Michele has made so famous and you’d know it was him. Michele’s Instagram account is chock-full of references every bit as varied as those he sends forth on Gucci’s runways: taxidermy, sumptuous interiors, ecclesiastical motifs, surreal charms, disembodied doll heads, and more—with occasional cameos from the designer’s Boston terrier, to boot.
His feed is a veritable wunderkammer, a cabinet of curiosities of the stripe you’d expect from the man who’s got every girl (and guy) in fashion embracing their inner eccentric. And it might be fashion’s best open secret where social media is concerned (though 19,000 followers is nothing to sniff at). Ahead of Gucci’s Fall ’16 show, we’ve rounded up 20 of Michele’s most inspiring snaps. Who knows? You might just spot them in one form or another on the runway tomorrow.
