Fossil, purveyor of affordable timepieces, is about to gain some serious cool cred: Opening Ceremony has tapped the company to create a capsule collection of watches, leather goods, and bags, hitting Opening Ceremony and select Fossil doors today. The timepieces (three women’s shapes and one for the guys), which debuted on OC’s Spring ’16 catwalk, add an arty, downtown twist to Fossil’s exploration-inspired ethos. Consider a sculptural, undulating watch with a marble-patterned face—the kind of thing that could make you seriously reconsider an iPhone-dependent, watch-less existence.
“It’s always fun for us to work with new partners who think different and yet respect Opening Ceremony’s point of view,” offers CEO Carol Lim. For both Lim and her OC cofounder, Humberto Leon, the collab is rooted in happy memories of a time when they both wore Fossil’s aspirational-yet-within-reach styles. Beyond great-looking bangles for telling time, the lineup also includes a dusty pink leather clutch with a Technicolor fur tail and a cheeky, mod-looking sloth tote.
