Riccardo Tisci, who was educated in London, lives in Paris, and parties all over the world, made his New York Fashion Week debut tonight with a collection for Givenchy that obliquely referenced his Italian roots. To the strains of “Ave Maria,” and a handful of other religiously tinged songs, the designer sent out a secular collection full of lingerie details (and men in skirts) rendered in an ecclesiastical palette of black and white. Tisci transformed the slip, which not only came out from under, but, paired with trousers, was designed to see the light of day. Inspired by the collection, here are ten Italian actresses, from Cinecittà star Silvana Mangano to Tisci muse Mariacarla Boscono (she made her theater debut in NYC in 2006), who have slipped into something more comfortable.
