But not everything was so bright and brash during the cusp of the millennium. Miu Miu’s Spring 2000 runway featured a more pared-back look from the era, one that makes for a palette-cleansing cameo in any modern-day closet: a black turtleneck underneath a pale button-up shirt. It’s the type of look that has bona fide braniac appeal, unapologetically covered up and modest in a way that has been working for stylish Phoebe Philo–philes for years.
