Riccardo Tisci brought his show from Paris to New York in celebration of the brand’s new Madison Avenue flagship, which opened at the end of August. But tonight’s Givenchy show was a milestone in more ways than one. The collection also marked his 10th anniversary at the house, and what better way to celebrate his first decade at Givenchy than to reimagine his haute couture creations of seasons past?

Look closely and you’ll realize that Joan Smalls’s voluminous jet-black gown is a reworking of Natalia Vodianova’s lavender frock from Spring 2010 Couture. Imaan Hammam’s origami-like gown had roots in Natasha Poly’s slate dress from Spring 2007 Couture. And Kamila Filipcikova’s gilded peplum jacket is a direct descendant of the red-tinged look she wore in Tisci’s Fall 2009 Couture show. Other house highlights popped up as well, from the avian dresses of Spring 2011 Couture to the hair-trimmed numbers of Fall 2010 Couture. See all the side-by-sides in the slideshow.
