Few things are certain at a Thom Browne show. One season might feature a full rainbow of suiting options in punchy yacht-club plaids, while the next could be filled with all-black mourning attire and models’ faces painted a gaunt shade of white. But in the changing tides of Browne’s experimental Americana, one thing is guaranteed: There will be short suits.
The style, comprised of always-above-the-knee shorts and a fitted blazer, has become Browne’s signature over the years. They’re strutted down the runway as jodhpurs, nubbly tweeds, proper wools, and—most excitingly—as a half-pant/half-short hybrid with a golden safety pin hem. Out in the wild, the look has a group of loyal adherents, but we’d venture to say no one does it better than the designer himself. Here, 10 of our favorite short suits from Browne’s collections. Stay tuned for pics from his Fall 2016 show today to see how he styles them next.
