Even in the rain, the fashion flock traipsed uptown to celebrate Ellen DeGeneres and her line, ED, at shopping mecca Bergdorf Goodman. “I’m so emotional right now, I could cry,” said DeGeneres in a sleek suit look from her line, which coordinated with wife Portia de Rossi. “It’s such an honor to launch in this way,” added the funnywoman, saying, “Bergdorf Goodman is so picky! People hope for years and years that they will select them.” Taking in the scene during cocktails were Diane Sawyer, Gayle King, and Steven Kolb. And there was an extra dose of star wattage as the intimate dinner brought out the likes of Kim Kardashian West, eschewing the weather forecast and donning a Givenchy look punctuated with pieces from her husband Kanye West’s Yeezy line; Justin Timberlake; Pharrell Williams; and designer Donna Karan. Now that DeGeneres has officially joined the ranks of the fashion elite in the rarefied retail space, is there anything specific on her shopping list? “Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and, of course, ED,” she quipped, before adding, “I think I’ll get a discount if I buy here now!”
